Ubuntu 8.1 is supported for 18 months on Desktops and Servers, however if you require a longer support it is better to stick to Version 8.04. Ubuntu is known for their periodic releases of updated versions; this version includes fresh visual style, improved Linux kernel and other updated packages. Other Major features include in Ubuntu 8.1: subnotebook improvements like better support for mobile networking, improved start up time, and official support for USB installation images. Adding to this are application upgrades like including OpenOffice.org 3 and improved KDE integration for Firefox.
