Notepad++ 4.7 is a free source code editor, originally presented as an alternative to Notepad, which can edit a number of programming languages that can run on the Windows platform. Notepad++ 4 is based on the Scintilla edit component and has been programmed entirely using the C++ language (hence, the ‘++’ sign in its name). As it is built with just the WIN32 API without MFC, it is much lighter and smoother on the system.
Notepad++ 4.7 is a WYSIWYG editor. That is, if you have a color printer you can take prints of the programs with color codes that you see on the screen. It has got a number of features that any text programming editor has not got. Drag and drop, ability to edit multiple documents at a time, user defined Syntax highlighting, Syntax folding, User Language Define System, Regular Expression Search, Brace and Indent guideline Highlighting, 2 edits and synchronized view of the same document, etc.
Notepad++ 4.7 supports  C, C++, Java, C#, XML, HTML, PHP, Javascript, RC file, makefile, nfo, doxygen, ini file, batch file, ASP, VB/VBS, SQL, Objective-C, CSS, Pascal, Perl, Python, Lua, Unix Shell Script, Fortran, NSIS and Flash action script.
The latest version has added several refinements to the older version.
Notepad++ 4.7 can run on Windows 95/98/Me/NT/windows 2000/windows XP/windows 2003 Server/Vista and come on a GPL license.
