As the name indicates, No-IP DUC (Dynamic DNS Update Client) is a tool that is used to keep the IP address of the client intact in the case of travelling behind a router when running a Web or FTP server. This helps the users who’s IPs are dynamically located to run their FTP or web servers without any hassles. This process is carried out with the help of a No-IP Updater utility which is used along with No-IP’s free DNS service. The updater utility keeps the IP address in sync with the specific DNS host name.
After successful installation of the program, the user is required to create an account with www.no-ip.com. Upon creation of an account, the user can choose a new domain name or register the existing one. After registration, hosts and groups of hosts can be created. The Updater utility then downloads all the host and groups in the list so that the user can see the status of the client IPs.
For configuration, the user needs to log into the account and manage all the hosts and groups online for example edit mail options, SSL certificates, monitor activity etc. The tool also provides the use of encrypted data wherein the user can set the program to run at Windows Startup or as a Windows Service Program.
