Real-time malware protection now available with Virus Scan Enterprise! Enhance your security!!!!              McAfee Virus Scan Enterprise 8.7i RC includes a number of features like defect fixes, incorporates the Beta 2 release of the 5300 scanning engine etc. that improve performance of malware scanning and also incorporates functional and usability improvements. To provide customers with real-time detections for malware a new feature “Heuristic network check for suspicious files,” has been included. When this feature is enabled, McAfee VirusScan Enterprise detects a suspicious program and sends a DNS request to the McAfee Avert Labs along with a fingerprint of the suspicious file. The McAfee Avert Labs then communicates the appropriate action back to VirusScan Enterprise 8.7i.
As this optional feature is made available only for on-demand scans and e-mail scanning, all you have to do is select a sensitivity level to enable the feature. This feature is disabled by default. This feature enables to provide protection for classes of malware for which signatures might not be available.
