Designed to detect and reveal all the Internet Explorer stored passwords, IE PassView is a small yet powerful tool that can be effectively applied to Windows applications and websites. It is compatible with the newer version of internet explorer as well (IE7) which is not supported by similar tools.

IE PassView is capable of recovering the following three types of passwords:

HTTP Authentication Passwords: This option saves the password supplied by the user as part of the login details to enter particular web sites. The details appear in a separate dialog box rather than on the page itself. This option is enabled by choosing the Save Password option beneath the password field in the login dialog box. A note to be considered here is that on websites using multiple passwords, deleting one particular password entry would tend to delete all the passwords for that particular site. This is because web site passwords are stored as a single entry.
FTP Passwords: Stores the passwords of FTP related files and addresses.
AutoComplete Passwords: more commonly used than the above two types of passwords, AutoComplete passwords are those that are supplied by the user as part of the login details while entering a website. The login details need to be supplied on the page itself. When the user checks the Save Password option, the password is automatically saved as an AutoComplete password. Certain websites may have this feature disabled to protect the security of the user account. Although IE PassView is able to successfully retrieve all auto complete passwords in all versions of Internet Explorer, the newer Beta Version of IE7 will erase the passwords once the history and cache are cleared.
Free to use, the beauty of IE PassView lies in the fact that it does not need to be installed on the system nor does it require extreme system resources. All that the user needs to do is copy the executable file (iepv.exe) to any folder on the systems and run it. The utility runs the file and then scans the system for all Internet Explorer passwords and displays them on a window. Multilingual support enables menus, dialog boxes and other strings to be displayed in numerous languages.
