Avira AntiVir Premium 9.0 Review
With the advent of the World Wide Web, more and more users have started to use the internet for personal and professional reasons. With this move, there arises a necessity to protect the users system from malicious threats that may infiltrate through the network.
The Avira AntiVir Premium 9.0.0.420 was designed keeping this thought in mind and provides complete protection of the system from viruses, malware, adware, spyware, phishing and hackers etc. The tool is a package that comprises of the following modules that can be installed, added and uninstalled as a whole or as individual components.
AntiVir Premium: Contains all the components for the successful installation of the package.
AntiVir Guard: is used for files on the computer. The component runs in the background and monitors all the file operations being carried out by the user. A user triggered action on a file can result in the AntiVir guard scanning the respective file, monitoring it for threats and repairing the file if any threats are detected. However, rename operation is excluded from the list of file operations that automatically trigger a scan.
AntiVir MailGuard: works at the network end and sits on the interface between the system and the email program that downloads the email. The component acts as a proxy between the email program on the system and the email server. Accordingly, all emails are routed through this proxy and any suspicious emails are filtered out or processed according to user instructions.
AntiVir WebGuard: also works at the network end and sits as a proxy on the ports used for data transfer namely 80, 8080 and 3128. The component scans the transferred data for possible threats as and when they try to enter the system and either removes them or processes them according to user instructions.
Root kit Detection: works on the hidden layers of the system where normal malware detection programs cannot operate. The component checks for root kits in the areas pertaining to the kernel.
Shell Extension: This component is used to generate entry level scans for selected files and directories.
