Almost all users use some kind of an anti virus engine on their computers. Many a time, the need arises to uninstall the current antivirus engine running on the system and install either a new version of the one already present or another antivirus tool altogether.
The process of un installation may be a simple task by the user removing the utility from the Add/Remove Programs menu in windows. Most of the time this method does not work. Even if the main utility is removed, traces of the program remain on the computer and interfere with the new antivirus tool that’s installed. Hence, it becomes necessary to remove the tool completely from the system.
This is where uninstaller tools come to the rescue. Most of the developers of antivirus engines provide an un installation tool with the basic package, that will remove the respective antivirus and all possible traces of it from the system. As the name indicates, AV Uninstaller Tool, short for Anti Virus Installer Tool is used to install several antivirus engines from systems, some of which include: McAfee Virus Scan, Norton Anti Virus, Dr. Solomon Anti Virus Tool kit and F – Secure AV to name a few. The best part about this tool is that it uninstalls the current antivirus without the user needing to know which one was installed.
Free for download and use, the AV Uninstaller Tool 1.0 can run on all Windows operating systems and has the provision to run silently in the background with the support of the /S command line argument. Some of the utilities that come along with this package include:
UNINSTA23.ZIP       – used to uninstall F-Secure AV products.
UNINSTAV.EXE      – used to uninstall all supported AV products.
UNINMCVS.EXE      – used to uninstall McAfee Virus Scan.
UNINDRS.ZIP          – used to uninstall Dr Solomon Anti Virus Toolkit
UNINNAV.EXE      – used to uninstall Norton Anti Virus

These utilities can be run separately or together by running the master program UNINSTAV.EXE. This script contains all the other scripts and runs like a batch program, running the scripts one after the other until the antivirus engine on the computer has been completely removed.
