By default the login controls that are given by ASP LOGIN integrates with ASP.NET membership and forms authentication to help automate user authentication for a website.
By default structure, the ASP LOGIN controls work in plain text over HTTP, when security becomes one’s primary concern then HTTPS with SSL encryption can de deployed.
Following are the login controls available:
Login Control:
The Login control displays a user interface for user authentication and contains text boxes for the user name and password and a check box that allows the users to indicate whether they want the server to store their identity using ASP.NET membership and automatically be authenticated the next time they visit the site.
Login View Control:
Allows the user to display different information to anonymous and logged-in users.
Login Status Control:
Displays a login link for the users who are not authenticated and a logout link for users who are authenticated.
Login Name Control:
Displays the user login name if the user has logged in using ASP.NET membership.
Password Recovery Control:
Allows the user passwords to be retrieved based on the e-mail address that was given when the account was created that sends a mail containing the password to the user.
