AC3D is a design software, widely used to create 3D modeling for games, virtual reality, flight simulation, scientific, medical and general data visualization, high-resolution 3D renderings, rapid prototyping of 3D designs, Google Earth and Second Life. AC3D provides Simple, intuitive ‘click and drag’ user interface, AC3D can load and save a wide variety of 3D file formats like 3D-studio 3DS, Lightwave LWO, Alias triangle, DXF, VRML, Povray, Renderman RIB, Triangles, Direct X, Milkshape, Quake 3 BSP, MD2, Wavefront OBJ, OFF, stl (ascii), sof (airfoil), SMF, T3D, LDRAW .ldr (Lego) and more, but primarily AC3D uses its own .ac file format which is ascii.
AC3D introduced in 1994 by Amiga Corporation, In 2002 Inivis Limited purchased the full source code rights to this 3DÂ tool and continues to develop and market the software. Now developers can add extra functionalities to 3D software via Tcl/Tk scripts and/or C/C++ dynamic libraries (plugins), Software development kit (SDK) is also available in the market for licensed users.
